Network marketing is not that different from the shop in the street; it is simply a different type of marketing and distribution channel for the goods or services it offers. When you enroll as a distributor you become part of the marketing arm of that business and when you enroll others they in turn become further marketing and distribution arms.  

Yes there are obvious differences - probably the ones that also motivated you to get involved in network marketing rather than having a "physical business":

• You do not have the large overheads of running a physical business
• You do not have to carry large amounts of stock (nor worry about the cost implication of that)
• You do not have to worry about staff, nor "who is going to open the doors", are they trustworthy...
• You do not have the time

However, right at the top of the list of things that Must Be Done, all types of businesses share, whether physical or on the internet, is that of attracting new quality customers/leads on an ongoing basis - Advertising

Businesses, whether internet-based or physical, need customers to survive and make money.
